ROAR - by Katy Perry

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar

Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...

Roar-or, roar-or, roar-or, roar-or, roar-or

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...

Welcome to Drama! And Dance! And Music!

To kick off our year in Fine Arts, we are going to start by making some Greek Masks.

A Greek mask usually shows the feelings of happy and sad. In Drama, plays have traditionally been either a tragedy (sad) or a comedy (happy).

Sometimes the masks have extra details like hair and wrinkles.

We will be making masks together in class. On the back of your mask, you will be writing me a private letter. On the front of your mask, you can add details to show your emotion and personality. And all this out of plain white paper!

For excellent picture instructions on how to do this, please click here.

Grade 3/4 Sound Effects

The Grade 3/4 class has been working on Voice all year. In the clips below, we have combined a dramatic reading of a story about noise with sound effects. All of the sound effects were created by the students and used a variety of instruments and "found sounds." Even harder, the students performed and recorded their stories before a live audience of their classmates. All students were excellent performers and respectful audience members. Please leave a comment if you enjoy the stories!

Talent Show

The second annual Webster School Talent Show will be held on the last Tuesday of the school year, June 25th, at 1:00 in the gymnasium. Auditions are being held the first week of June during regular Fine Arts blocks. Any students wishing to audition should come to Fine Arts prepared with any instruments, props, or music that they will require for their audition. iPads, iPods, CDs, mp3s and videos can all be used for auditions.

Unfortunately, not everyone who auditions will be selected for the show. This is the hardest part of Mrs. Vanness' job! We are looking for a variety of talents, a variety of ages and grades, and only have an hour and fifteen minutes for the show. If you are not selected for the show, it doesn't mean you aren't a talented performer!!!

And now, a few videos to keep you smiling :)
