O, Canada
Our home and native land
True patriot love in all thy sons command
With glowing hearts we see thee rise
The true north strong and free
From far and wide, O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
God keep our land
Glorious and free
O, Canada we stand on guard for thee
O, Canada we stand on guard for thee

Tableau
Have you ever heard the expression, "a picture is worth a thousand words"? In drama, the grade 6/7s are working together to make a living picture with their bodies, called a tableau. A tableau looks like a picture because everyone is standing as still as a statue.
The grade 6/7s used Padlet today to brainstorm ideas, keywords, and feelings about Remembrance Day, and grouped similar ideas together. Then, they chose a sequence of three groupings to tell a mini story. They will perform their series of three tableaux at our Remembrance Day assembly.
Below you can see the themes and ideas the grade 6/7s will be expressing.

Hallowe'en Time!
Like Just Dance, but with a skeleton!
Need help with your spooky spelling? Try the next video. You'll never forget how to spell Halloween again!
Get your twisting feet ready. Here's the classic video "Monster Mash" with lyrics.
What to do if you have a ghost? Call the Ghostbusters!
Check out the drippy font in this next video. Could it even be Halloween without Michael Jackson's song "Thriller"? I don't think so.

ROAR - by Katy Perry
I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...
Roar-or, roar-or, roar-or, roar-or, roar-or
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...

Welcome to Drama! And Dance! And Music!
To kick off our year in Fine Arts, we are going to start by making some Greek Masks.
A Greek mask usually shows the feelings of happy and sad. In Drama, plays have traditionally been either a tragedy (sad) or a comedy (happy).

Sometimes the masks have extra details like hair and wrinkles.
We will be making masks together in class. On the back of your mask, you will be writing me a private letter. On the front of your mask, you can add details to show your emotion and personality. And all this out of plain white paper!
For excellent picture instructions on how to do this, please click here.
